Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

OVERVIEW

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is God’s idea of the ultimate skin care product. Because it contains over 30 circulating growth factors* and other components for self-healing, our own blood serum (blood minus red and white cells) is the perfect “liquid band-aid”. In addition, the platelets activate and induce a tissue healing response. Better yet, it is made on the spot, at the time of treatment, from your own blood (“autologous”). PRP is very effective in skin rejuvenation. Skin tone, fine lines, and areas of volume loss are just some examples.

Dr. Robben draws it from your arm, just as for a blood test, and spins off the red and white cells in a specialised tube and a powerful centrifuge. What is left is a beautiful rich plasma. This can then be applied topically onto and/or injected into the skin or scalp. The PRP can also be processed further (Cellenis Derma PRP) into a gel for treating lines, wrinkles and stretch-marks.

BACKGROuND

There is a large body of research and clinical evidence on PRP, pioneered in the field of orthopedics for directed treatment of joint disease. Other applications followed, including the “Vampire Facial”.

PRP-Facial

PRP is great for Skin and Hair Rejuvenation!

But not by itself. PRP is applied over the skin immediately following such procedures as micro-needling, Active-FX and Erbium-FX, as well as Profound. This reduces down-time while improving outcomes.

Alternatively, direct targeted injection via syringe helps restore skin vitality in problem areas, whether it is eyelids, dark circles, facial wrinkles or folds. PRP is a great adjunct to filler and BoTN/A (Botox etc.) treatments. Think forehead lines, frown lines, bunnies, crow’a feet, lip-lines, naso-labial folds, accordion lines, etc.

Finally, it is used for hair restoration and regrowth as well!

EYE BAGS and DARK CIRCLES

The eyelids are the thinnest skin on our body. Movement from squinting (bright light, un-corrected vision issues), and aging sun-rays (UltraViolet exposure), as well as gradual loss of collagen/elasticity chip away at this vulnerable area. This causes drooping and crêpeyness. In addition, the translucency of thin skin, just like the back of the hands, can create an optical effect of discoloration. This is often referred to as the “dark circles”.

PRP will not distort the shape of your eyes and the results look natural. There also is none of the bluish Tindell effect, a discoloration which can be seen with fillers that come too close to the surface.

Three treatments generally yield optimal results. Maintenance is variable. A good skin regimen/eye-cream makes a difference; nurture your skin from the inside and out. Active-FX laser tightening can help stubborn cases.

TIRED and DULL-Looking SKIN

Skin looks bright and aglow because it reflects light. The younger the cells, the more they reflect radience. Effective ways to shorten the turnover time for skin cells and eliminate dull skin is through specific peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, laser resurfacing (Active-FX, Erbium-FX), PRP treatments and good at-home eye lid skin care.

HAIR LOSS

PRP has moved into the foreground for combatting hair loss. Whether it is a receding hair line, diffuse hair loss or thinning, or bald spots, hair loss interferes with our self-confidence and self-image!
