Elastin is a protein that coils and recoils like a spring within the connective tissue of your skin. Elastin is what makes your skin, heart, lungs, and many other tissues elastic so that they can snap back into shape after stretching or contracting. It works in your skin with collagen: Elastin provides elasticity and collagen provides structure to keep your skin smooth and firm. Starting in our mid-20s, elastin begins to break down and starts to lose its spring. Elastin is rarely made after puberty, and so aging begins.
The Profound®RF micro needling device controls five pairs of “micro-needle electrodes” that deliver energy to create zones of heat electively below the surface. Profound RF vs. Morpheus8: Which one for you?
The Profound RF and Morpheus8 are two leading radiofrequency-by-microneedling devices in the current market. Radiofrequency (RF) can have a ‘shrink-wrap’ effect. When radiofrequency is combined with microneedling, as it is with these devices, the heat is delivered much deeper into the skin, promoting further cell regeneration. Profound RF penetrates deeper into the facial tissues, and for a longer amount of time, for optimum protein denaturation/stimulation within one single treatment. This translates into Profound RF stimulating stronger production of elastin by about five-fold, doubling collagen levels and dramatically increase hyaluronic acid levels.
This is why Profound requires one treatment as opposed Morpheus8 which is done in a series.
The Profound RF combines microneedling and radiofrequency technologies for advanced skin tightening and rejuvenation. It’s designed to trick the skin into ‘repair-mode’, stimulating new elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks that keep skin youthful, smooth and elastic.
Radiofrequency energy makes the skin believe it’s injured, jump-starting sluggish fibroblasts into making matrix collagen and elastin. Over the course of 2-3 months this translates to smoother, firmer and tighter skin.

There is minimal downtime with the Morpheus8. At most, the skin will feel hot and red following treatment, but this calms down within 4 to 24 hours. Some results can be seen after just one treatment but a course of three is usually required for comparable results.
