How Does Laser Skin Rejuvenation Work?

Laser skin rejuvenation can involve non-ablative devices, requiring little or no downtime. Ablative lasers target deeper layers while also removing cells from the surface in order to promote vigorous exfoliation and improve the look of the skin. Consequently, ablative lasers require some downtime for healing after a treatment.

In either case, the goal is to trigger a response that promotes the production of new surface cells, collagen, and other beneficial effects that give the skin a more youthful look.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation with the Erbium Laser

The fractionated erbium laser generates effects that is a “laser peel.” While a chemical peel uses specially formulated topical solutions to exfoliate the surface of the skin, revealing new skin beneath, a similar benefit is generated by the application of laser energy going a little deeper than a peel. Erbium laser resurfacing is good for surface-level lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, or chest. It improves unwanted skin-tones from sun-induced aging.
