"Dear Dr. Robben, Linda et al, I have recovered very nicely from my laser treatment. I just wanted to send you a note and thank you again for your time and care in June and over the years. It is a little embarrassing to want to look better, but you make me feel positive about it. With my 60th birthday this Tuesday, I feel good."
"I have been coming to this location for 9 years now. As my hormones changed and my hair growth increased, it was treated with the utmost care and attention. Facial and hand fillers for the Havertown, Main Line, PA, Delaware Valley, and greater Philadelphia Area
Dermal Fillers & Injectibles Philadelphia: Mind Your Skin draws from multiple communities (Havertown, Broomall, West Chester, Media, and Springfield; the Main Line towns of Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Wynnewood and Narberth).
Wrinkles and folds are among the most obvious signs of aging. A multitude of reasons cause these unwanted lines to form on the face and elsewhere. The loss of collagen and other vital skin elements is a primary cause as time goes by. Mind Your Skin offers dermal fillers for Philadelphia and Havertown-area patients who want to address this gradual depletion. Norbertus Robben, MD restores a youthful smoothness, structure, and contour to the skin. He adds the filler where it is best deployed. Treatment sessions last a mere 20 to 30 minutes, but can yield results that last all the way up to 18 months, depending on the area and the filler used.
We carry two families of hyaluronic dermal fillers—Juvéderm® , Restylane® —each with multiple sub-formulas for specific treatment areas and results, and Prolennium Revanesse Versa®. We also offer Radiesse® for heavier folds and contouring. Within the Juvéderm® series, the newer formulations Volbella and Volux are at opposite ends of the application spectrum: The former for superficial fine lines, the latter for contouring of jaw line and chin. Dr. Robben brings years of experience and skill to each injection session, working to administer the ideal version and amount of dermal fillers in the targeted area to produce beautiful and natural-looking results.

What Are the Basics of Dermal Fillers?
First, it is important to understand that youthful skin gets its texture and resilience mainly from three molecules. These are collagen, fat, hyaluronic acid, and elastin. Collagen is what gives skin its strength, structure, and flexibility. Hyaluronic acid fills that collagen-built structure with moisture as it binds to water molecules. Elastin ensures that skin pulled out of shape will not stay stretched out, but will return to its resting state.
Young people have these three molecules in abundance in their skin. But ultraviolet solar radiation, environmental damage, and age-related degradation cause their levels to drop throughout a person’s 20s, 30s, and beyond. Without sufficient amounts of these vital elements, skin loses volume and grows lax, leading to wrinkles and sagging. In addition, underlying fat pads shrink and even the bony skeleton changes shape. Because of all of this, there is generally a deepening, downward turning, and descent of important features.
Purposeful use of the various Dermal Fillers & Injectibles
Collagen and hyaluronic acid and fat loss typically lead to the formation of:
nasolabial folds from the nose to mouth
“parentheses” that frame the mouth even on relatively young faces
downturns and marionette lines between the mouth and chin
tear troughs (infra-orbital hollowing)
uneven appearance right to left, at rest or with expression
earlobe creases
pre-jowl folds
flat cheeks (central facial volume loss)
cheek (malar) crease; chin crease
shallow temples
vein/tendon showing on hands
Dermal fillers counter that loss by replenishing water content and/or volume. Mind Your Skin’s dermal fillers are gels of hyaluronic acid, with the formulas made especially to bring more youthful levels of hydration back into the skin. Radiesse®, which has a calcium-based formula and works by stimulating collagen production, is available as well.
In addition, we now have SkinVive™ by Juvéderm®. Though made of hyaluronic acid as well, it is to be understood as a pure hydrator, nòt a volumizer. It is also injected differently, using a microdroplet technique. You can learn more about in on our new SkinVive™ page

OVERVIEW
Juvéderm® XC (Extra Comfort) Dermal Fillers
Juvederm® XC reduces the appearance of these lines. The latest additions to this family are Vollure® and Volux®
JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC is an injectable gel designed to improve jawline definition in patients with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition. Adding volume to improve the shape and structure of the lower face helps provide smooth, long-lasting definition in the jawline for adults over 21 years of age.
How long does JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC last?
JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC lasts up to 1 year, with optimal treatment.
What are the potential side effects of JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC?
Most side effects were mild or moderate in nature with duration of 14 days or less—35% of side effects lasted up to 30 days. The most common side effects were temporary reactions at the treatment site, such as tenderness, lumps/bumps, pain, swelling, firmness, bruising, redness, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
How does JUVÉDERM® VOLUX®XC work?
JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC is a crystal-clear gel that is injected into the jaw to improve jawline definition. It temporarily adds volume to augment the shape and structure of the lower face and results in improved jawline definition in adults over the age of 21. The lidocaine in the gel improves the comfort of the injection by reducing sensitivity to pain.
Juvéderm Vollure® XC
Due to its ability to stretch and recoil with normal expression movement in the area, this dermal filler excels at addressing nasolabial folds. In addition, Juvéderm Vollure® XC has a formulation that lasts longer than most hyaluronic acid fillers in the skin.
JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ XC injectable gel is indicated for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds) in adults over the age of 21.
Juvéderm® Ultra/UltraPlus XC
You may have had thin lips since birth. Ordinarily, a gradual reduction in volume happens over time as collagen breaks down faster than it is replaced. Patients who want a fuller, plumper look can choose the Ultra version of this dermal filler to add noticeable volume to their smile; UltraPlus is more resilient and better deployed at downturns, marionette’s lines and areas of volume loss.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® UltraPlus XC injectable gels are indicated for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).
Juvéderm Volbella® XC
Sometimes lips need a more subtle boost, as opposed to an obvious increase in fullness. This dermal filler provides just that! Juvederm Volbella® XC reduces the severity of vertical lip (“smoker’s”) lines as well, and also other lines on the face that are of an ‘etched-in’ nature.
JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA™ XC injectable gel is indicated for injection into the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral rhytids in adults over the age of 21.
Juvéderm Voluma® XC
Unique among the Juvederm® family of dermal fillers, Voluma®focuses on midfacial contours. Volume—and thereby roundness—to the “apple” of the cheek, corrects for loss of collagen and fat that can lead to a flat or hollow look. Since volume loss in the midface also causes sagging, this filler can serve to provide a “liquid facial lift”. Vycross® crosslinking technology extends the longevity of this filler’s results (after full correction) up to 18 months.
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is indicated for deep (subcutaneous and/or supraperiosteal) injection for cheek augmentation to correct age-related volume deficit in the mid-face in adults over the age of 21.
This family includes the original Restylane®to reduce the appearance of general facial wrinkles and folds or to address teartroughs/under eye bags. Refyne™ takes on a moderate laugh and smile lines, while Defyne™ addresses deep laugh and smile lines. Silk™ and Kysse™ add volume to the lips and treats wrinkles in the area around the mouth. Restylane® Contour is the latest addition to the line-up. It renders a natural enhancement of cheek and mid-face volume and contour. Finally Lyft® also contours the midface and fills heavier wrinkles and folds. It is useful to rejuvenate the back of the hands.
We don’t currently carry this option. We are not convinced this product adds to or beats our avialable treatment options.
This family of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers has FDA approval for treatment of dynamic facial wrinkles and folds. These types of issues occur over time in areas of the face where there is repetitive motion, such as around the eyes, lower cheeks and the mouth. Teosyal® RHA is designed to adapt to your facial movements and preserve a natural look both at rest and expression.
Teosyal® RHA developed in Switzerland uses a gentle manufacturing process with few chemical modifications. This helps preserve the natural structure of the HA by integrating within the skin and mimicking the natural HA found in your skin. This is different from other HA fillers, that use a high heat manufacturing process.
The unique properties of each product (simple going by numbers 2, 3 and 4), enable us to address specific and varying needs.
The RHA family of hyaluronic acid fillers combines stretch and resilience. This means they are designed to maintain their integrity after stretching, bending, and being compressed.
RHA 2, 3 and 4 contain lidocaine for enhanced injection treatment comfort. Bruising is possible with all injectables. As with other HA products, Teosyal® RHA fillers can be reversed if the need arises.
Revanesse® Versa Dermal Filler
Revanesse® VersaTM is another hyaluronic acid dermal filler. It treats moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds.
LESS SWELLING In clinical trials fewer patients treated with Revanesse® Versa™ experienced swelling than patients treated with other products.
IMMEDIATE RESULTS Revanesse® Versa™ is minimally invasive and provides immediate results. Take control of signs of aging and ask your provider if Revanesse® Versa™ is right for you.
LONGEVITY Revanesse® Versa™ can improve nasolabial folds (laugh lines) for up to 12 months with optimal correction.
DESIGNED FOR SAFETY The Revanesse® Versa™ formula is well-studied, with no serious adverse events reported.
A LITTLE MORE GOES A LONG WAY
Revanesse® Versa™ is the only hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler in the US available in a 1.2mL syringe size.
Whether you require more product to be brought to full correction or are seeking a more cost-effective treatment option; 20% more product in the syringe is another example of the Revanesse® difference providing patients the best possible results.
Radiesse® Dermal Filler
This filler is useful to reduce the appearance of deeper facial wrinkles and folds. It is well suited for facial contouring and addresses volume or bony deficits. Radiesse® is also adds volume to the backside of the hands. There it creates a more youthful look pushing back against an excessively crêpey and or veiny appearance.
To begin with, Dr. Robben leads a complimentary consultation so patients can explain the cosmetic issues they want to be addressed. He then works with him to decide on the ideal treatment strategy. The actual injection session can be as brief as 10 to 15 minutes. Specifics depend on the dermal fillers being used and which area(s) of the face is/are treated.
There is a slight pinching sensation from the tiny needle when a dermal filler is administered. Subsequently, this can at times be followed by swelling, redness, discomfort, or bruising—all expected to be minimal. Afterward, any such side effects should fade within days, if not hours after a session.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Results Last?
Generally, the volume-adding nature of dermal fillers causes results to be visible right away. Full integration though takes a week or two, as the hydrating benefits of hyaluronic acid take hold.
Dermal fillers gradually dissipate over time. Some last six months or so, and others up to 18, before re-treatment becomes needed. Mind Your Skin offers a long-term Maintenance Program. This especially suits patients who want to ensure their youthful look lasts as long as they want it to.
Fillers have different characteristics. Hence no single answer is apropos as to how long dermal fillers are going to last.
IN THE NEWS
COVID-19 update. Delayed dermal filler inflammatory events very rarely occur with both hyaluronic acid and non-hyaluronic acid fillers. Evidence suggests these reactions can be immunologically triggered by viral and bacterial illness, vaccinations such as the influenza vaccine, and dental procedures. These rare adverse events are temporary and respond to treatments such as oral corticosteroids and hyaluronidase, and often resolve without treatment. Given currently available data, patients already treated with dermal fillers should not be discouraged or precluded from receiving vaccines of any kind. Similarly, patients who have had vaccines should not be precluded from receiving dermal fillers in the future. Specifically, with regard to the Moderna mRNA-1273 trial, there were a total of 3 reactions possibly related to dermal fillers out of 15,184 vaccine recipients. It is unknown how many subjects in the trial had previous treatment with dermal fillers.
Dr. Robben makes a wide range of cosmetic treatments available at Mind Your Skin so consequently there can be a solution uniquely suited for each patient. The Practice is conveniently situated off of I-476 within minutes of multiple Main Line and Delaware Valley communities. Women and men with signs of aging due to facial muscle activity require a different injectable, known as a neuromodulator. The most popular is BOTOX®, with Dysport®, Jeuveau, and Xeomin® as available alternatives to relax wrinkle-revealing muscles.
In short Dr. Robben’s mission is to truly hear each patient’s aesthetic goals and match him or her to an ideal treatment strategy that fits within their budget.
